12 Weeks

Here we are officially in the second trimester finishing up week 12 and starting week 13! I have another doc appointment on Tuesday, but I hear its just a quick one.

Feeling: I've been feeling a lot better, the nausea is all but gone, but the fatigue is still there. Its always hard to get going in the mornings. I've been feeling a little dizzy at work sometimes this week, but just keep eating lots of snacks to keep my blood sugar up and getting lots of water to keep up my blood pressure. I've still been craving the mac and cheese and pasta salads and stuff, and late last night I had to have an Oreo McFlurry, so at 10pm, I went and got one! mmmmm!
Weight: 123 lbs

(This bump pic was taken first thing in the am, so it actually seems smaller than last week!!) It is weird this Mother's Day because I just keep thinking that this time next year I actually will be a mother! We celebrated Jen's baby shower this weekend and it was so fun to see Jen and Jes and their cute little bumps so far along in their pregnancies. It sounds like Jen is pulling for a boy to change things up and Jes is pulling for another girl, so all our kids can be girlfriends! Of course we had to take a bump photo, although mine is kinda puney right now! ;)

Fun Facts About Week 12: By now, our baby weighs a full half-ounce and is about the size of a large plum. Most of his systems are in place, though there's still plenty of maturing to do. For one thing, his fetal digestive system is beginning to practice contraction movements necessary for eating, and his bone marrow is busy making white blood cells — weapons against germs once he's out of my safe haven. The pituitary gland (at the base of the brain) has started producing the hormones that'll enable him (or her) to make babies of his (or her) own in a couple of decades or so. If all those changes in your baby sound dizzying, that may just be you dealing with yet another problematic symptom: Lots of women experience occasional dizziness and/or feel faint due to progesterone, which causes increased blood flow to your baby by relaxing your own blood vessels. The decrease in blood flow to your body and brain, along with typically lower blood sugar levels during pregnancy, can set your world a-spinning. Do your part to keep your equilibrium by eating regularly, getting adequate rest, and standing up slowly.
